CHOICE

As uncomfortable as it can be, God has blessed us with the incredible gift of choice.

The former 'Disney Princess' in me imagines the scene from Disney's Sleeping Beauty where Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather bestow their gifts upon Princess Aurora.

"My gift shall be the gift of....." CHOICE. 

That's a huge gift! I've noticed that anything given with significance also requires a great amount of responsibility. This idea can almost seem overwhelming at times... or is it just me?

It's easy to get caught up in decision making- What should I do, What is right for Me, What does God want, What happens if I make this choice... Whoa- Hello Over-thinker! (speaking to myself)

As much as I want to figure everything out, have a plan, a list of what happens next, a diagram of consequences and reactions to each choice I make- I need to LET IT GO!

... Here we go with the Disney reference again! When Frozen came out I really despised the amount of "the snow glows white on the mountain tonight" lyrics I heard. The lyrics to the popular song 'Let It Go' haunted me (especially as a pre-school dance teacher!) Interesting enough, I actually enjoy hearing this song now because the lyrics remind me to LET IT GO!

When we allow ourselves to let go of the thoughts that haunt us and choose to focus on the gifts God has blessed us with, we have the power of peace. Focusing on God has never failed anyone! SO, as easy as it is to get caught up in all of the plans and preparations, it truly is much better to let it go and give it to God.

At the end of the day- God's plan will always prevail.
