How easy is it to forget that we are fearfully and wonderfully made!
Two weekends ago my daughter performed in a local dance competition. The life of a competitive dancer is not new to her as she was raised in a dance studio, took her first steps on a dance floor, her first shoes were ballet slippers. When she entered the stage to present her new solo to the panel of judges, I (along with the rest of our friends/family who know her well) expected to see our little performer come to life on the stage. Once they called her name, she walked on to performed her routine, however- right before the last few moments in her dance- her face went blank, her eyes enlarged, and her facial expression revealed she had a moment of forgetfulness on the stage. She did her best to continue through the movements, but it took a huge toll on her. She left the stage filled in never-ending tears and I found myself in a position to comfort my delicate child. This was not how I expected to spend my day, this was not how she expected to feel after that performance... so many emotions, such a new feeling!
As the days went on, my sweet child continued to struggle with this internal battle of her worthiness as a dancer. This child of mine is normally a little firecracker, she brings the sun into a dark room and has the ability to make almost anyone laugh. These few seconds in time had the power to make her question so much. It was in that moment I was reminded of the scripture "I am Fearfully and Wonderfully made!"
This was now our opportunity to learn a lesson- These moments of imperfection do NOT define us! How many times have you reached for a goal and not quite hit the target? By no means does God tell us life is always supposed to go as we plan. He has a plan, He has a purpose. Regardless of what we think may go wrong, regardless of the imperfections we face or mistakes we make- we are STILL fearfully and wonderfully made!
Made in HIS image and to God we give the glory in knowing that HE makes no mistakes.
Little moments in life will try to direct us into a mindset that we have failed, but those moments do NOT define us and Thank you GOD for that!
Psalm 139:14 (NIV) I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
